Mercury Zephyr running BAD

i have a 1981 mercury zephyr with a 2.3L four cylinder with automatic transmission. I was driving and when i hit the gas peddle its acted like it had no power. took to the shop they told me my carborator needed to be rebuilt so i rebuilt it and it runs fine until i press the gas then it bogs down like its over loading with gas. I NEED HELP WITH THIS PLEASE HELP ME OUT

Best check the accelerator pump and power valve of the carbuerator could be also one of the following.

Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Crankshaft position sensor
Knock sensor
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard it and keep testing.
