1982 Ford Fairmont Fairmont 6 Cyl 200 Cu Automatic Transmission Reverse

I have a 1982 Ford Fairmont, 6 cyl, 200 cu in. with an automatic transmission. The reverse gear will not work at all when all the forward gears work just fine. Could it be just a linkage problem?

doubt it. it sounds like a band or clutch issue.

how long since you changed the trans oil and filter??
