I have a manual trans that has chatter when disengaged,

It also shudders the truck when moving from a dead stop, and vibrates the truck when at high rpms. Is this a fairly positive ID for a lost torsion spring? And if so, how much damage can a lost torsion spring do?

flywheel with hot spots, yes, bad springs or failed pressure plate.
