I recently changed my oil (today.) After changing the oil I start the car, it seems to start up and run like normal, I let it run for about 2-3 minutes and then shut the car off. When I shut the car off it doesnt shut off right away now, it starts to sputter and click for a few moments (about 5+ seconds) before finally shutting off. I notice smoke/smells coming from the engine but I spilt oil on it while pouring into the oil cap so I assume that's where that is from. The car did not make these noises when shutting off before.

SOME CALL THAT "DIESELING"

MOST OF THE TIME THE IDLE SPEED IS TOO HIGH!

WITHOUT A REFERENCE FOR THAT YEAR, I'M JUST GUESSING

THERE MAY BE A STICKER STILL UNDER THE HOOD ON WHAT IT SHOULD BE

I'M GUESSING ABOUT 700 RPM

IF YOU HAVE A TACH IN OR ON THE DASH, IT SHOULD BE EZ TO SEE WHAT IT IS

OTHER THAN THAT IF YOU HAVE A TIMING LIGHT, YOU SHOULD HAVE A PORTABLE DWELL/ TACH METER (LIKE MINE IN THE PIC BELOW)

LEMME KNOW HOW IT GOES
