1982 Bmw 118d Tell Involved Replacing Head Gasket Rocker Cover Head

Please tell me what is involved in replacing the Head Gasket ?
Is the the Rocker Cover ? Or is the 'Head' below the Rocker Cover.
As you can see its an old car and if possible I will change the gasket myself - I have just average mechanical skills.
