Hello, my name is Kelly and I have a 81 Nissan 280zx w/rear wheel drive and an auto trans. About 2 weeks ago it started making this whirling kind of noise. The noise is there when I am driving and when I am idling. When I excelerate it kind of feels like my tires are dragging a bit, as if I were driving through mud, if that makes and sense. Any ideas on what could be the cause? Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thank you so much for your time.
Sincerely,
Kelly

Whirring noises during idling indicats it should be engine speed related. Possible sources would be the drive belts and components driven by them. You need to check the alternator, A/C comporeeos, idler pullies.

Poor acceleration could be due to power losses and it could be engine or transmission related. You need someone who knows about cars to test and determine what is wrong.
