Dist cap?How do I find the correct firing order by one plug at a time? Replaced timing chain and gears, new dist cap rotor. Ford firing orders does not match. Not sure that someone replaced distributor shaft with a different one.

#1 piston TDC look at rotor position. Start #1 plug wire there and the rest in firing order in direction of rotation of rotor.

KEEP IN MIND THE "NORM" OR FACTORY/ BOOK PICTURE IS NOT ALWAYS HOW IT CAN BE SET UP......DEPENDING ON WHO INSTALLED THE DISTRIBUTOR, #1 COULD BE IN ANY POSITION!.......AND THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT'S WRONG!!!.....WHEN YOU DO FIND TDC, AND WHERE #1 IS POINTING, LIKE fixitmr SAID, THAT'S WHERE THE START OF THE FIRING ORDER SEQUENCE WILL BEGIN

THE BEGINNING OF THIS THIS WILL NOT APPLY TO YOU....IT IS GOOD INFO REGARDLESS...THE REST MAY HELP YOU WITH "TDC"
