I have a 1981dodge ram with the 318 in it I seem to be having oil leaks coming from the top rear of the engine after it has been driven just sitting at idle it seems fine or after I shut it off I can't seem to pin point the exact spot it is coming from but to narrow it down I did change the oil filter twice and made sure it was all clean of dirt before I put the second one on

I always start with the most obvious and would first check to see you the oil filter was not doulble gasketed. If that seems ok then you might want to check the valve cover, the gasket might be worn out and be leaking oil as well. If you could let me know exactly where the leak is located then I could adivse you a little more in detail.

Hope this Helps!

If it is coming from the top of the engine, check intake gasket and valve cover gaskets. The oil filter is on the side of the engine.
