1980 Rabbit alternator replacement--how do you access the bolt that holds it in place? It's covered by a belt cover; can't see how to get the belt cover off.

Thanks,
Ed

6mm allen socket or 13mm hex head socket through the little access hole.

There's room for a Ratchet and either of those sockets... break the bolt loose, remove the ratchet and turn the socket by hand until you can
remove the bolt (remove socket from bolt before pulling bolt out).

If there is no access hole... take and post a picture of your cover, so that I can mark the mounting points for the cover that you
need to remove for the cover to come off.

But there should be an access hole (might be hidden by a plastic pop-in-out cover).
