HOW 'BOUT THE WHOLE ENGINE W/ HOOD BACK ON THE WINDSHIELD FRAME---TOP, LEFT, AND RIGHT VIEWS
WITHOUT EVEN USING MY MANUAL CHOKE (OR USING IT), AND A CARTER BBD CARB, IF ALL IS "TIP-TOP"---2 PUMPS AND IT WILL BUST OFF AND RUN. HOWEVER, IT'LL BE SLUGGISH WITHOUT CLOSING THE CHOKE A LITTLE, TILL IT WARMS UP WITHIN 2 MILES. THEN CHOKE BUTTON (CABLE) GETS PUSHED IN. THAT'S DURING COLD WEATHER, I RARELY USE THE CHOKE DURING WARM WEATHER. BUT I DON'T "JUMP OUT" IN FRONT OF ANYBODY, TILL I'M AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE!
I'VE HAD BBDs FOREVER, TRIED A WEBER FOR A YEAR, AND NOW HAVE A HOLLEY 390 CFM, 4 BARREL. MOUNTED ON MY 258 6 CYL. MOSTLY FOR THE ABILITY TO JET IT FAST AND EZ, AND OBTAINING 18 MPG, BUT THE POWER IS THERE IF I NEED IT!

THE REASON I STARTED ANSWERING HERE 4 YEARS AGO IS BECAUSE THE "CJs" WERE GETTING "ONE LINER", UN-HELPFUL ANSWERS FOR THE MOST PART.I THOUGHT I COULD DO BETTER!
