Fuel leaks from the front of my original motorcraft 2 bbl carb. Looks like its coming from a small hole located near the base. Why?

There's two possibilities. If it leaks near the lever for the accelerator pump, the diaphragm is ruptured. A new one is included in the rebuild kit. There are also some soft metal plugs that are inserted after they drill some of the passages. Those plugs can work loose. Clean and dry those plugs, then seal them with epoxy. Some silicone sealers will also work.
