What can I do to make it get better fuel milage. But still have pulling power. Cam, carb, intake, coils, ign, distrib?

Honestly, I have a 78 and nothing ever worked. Some people say just replacing the air filter with an K&N helps, but I didn't see any change. The truck wasn't really designed for fuel economy. If you start changing to performance cams, carb. It will make it worse.
