I have a 1979 Chevy Caprice Classic, when you drive the car and it time for it to shift gears the engine will sqeel and have high rpm. then when you let off the gas it will shift most of the time. can you tell me what the possible reason this might happen.

Those symptoms are typical of an internal clutch problem. The transmission will likely have to be rebuilt.
