I have a 1978 Oldsmobile Delta 88 with 5.7L 350 Rocket engine. I just replaced the fuel pump because it wasn't getting gas into the carburetor. When I spray carb cleaner in it almost fires just doesn't have enough gas to keep running. And now that I'm checking it with the new one in it, its not even getting gas to the fuel pump but I smell it when I have my friend pump the gas pedal. Any suggestions of what the issue might be, I've been told to make sure all my gas lines are clear, any other suggestions?

Try getting a 5 gallon cab of gas with a 10ft rubber hose connected to the fuel pump and see if it starts.
Two different things happen to the First, the pick up in the tank can get clogged up and second and most common, the fuel line going forward gets porous in both the rubber and the steel line so the fuel pump sucks air instead of fuel.

I would blow out the fuel lines after removing the cap and replace the fuel line from the tank to the fuel pump. Just be careful not to blow gas all over the place out the cap.
