350 engine problem

I started my car in the morning and it started right up then it made a clunking noise then it shut off I tried starting it up again and then it won't stay running it will make that same noise and then it will shut off again don't know what is wrong

did you check the oil lately??? was there any noise before this??

I checked the oil or was good and no there was no noise before I started it in the morning it ran good last week and I didn't drive it on the weekend till Monday

Did it break or jump a timing chain? Have you turned the engine over with the distibutor cap off to see if the distributor turns?

Sorry I meant does it have a streched timing chain? If you pull the distributor cap off and turn the engine over by hand (wrench) till the rotor moves then turn it the other direction and see how many degree's it takes for the rotor to turn.
