Just found this board today. I have a '77 ford motorhome with a 460. Motor is supposed to be freshly rebuilt. Bought it in '06 been sitting in rv park since '07. During the short it was running it ran well for first 300 miles then started dying at highway speed then would catch & run fine for maybe 50 miles & do it again. Gotten progressively worse. Has 2 tanks, see-through fuel filter ahead of externally mounted (inside frame rail) electric fuel pump. Coil is new, thought fuel had trash but was clean. Ford dealer couldn't figure this out and I too am at a loss. Also, I think block is newer than '77 as mechanical fuel pump boss is not machined. Any ideas? I need to get this thing running as I'm about to be thrown out of this park for rv being too old. Also on un-employment so don't have much money. If ya'll can, please help. Thanks.

Seems you have a fuel supply problem. When engine stalled, was it easy to restart?

Does it occur at lower speed?

STUFF THAT BECOMES PART OF MY INVENTORY (KEEPER STUFF) GETS A 100% FLUID CHANGE---FROM S. UCKING OUT THE MASTER CYLINDER WITH AN "INFANTS SNOT S. UCKER) AND BLEEDING THE BRAKES, EYES ON MECHANICAL BRAKE INSPECTION----ALL THE WAY THRU----EVERY OTHER FLUID AND CRITICAL PART. WHICH I CHECK OUT MYSELF

WHAT "THEY SAID" IS IRRELEVANT, "THEIR LIFE AND INCONVENIENCE" IS NO LONGER PART OF THE EQUATION. EVEN WITH THEIR STORY OF WHAT THEY THOUGHT WAS DONE CORRECTLY, MAY HAVE BEEN PERFORMED BY 16 YEAR OLD, "MECHANICAL MIKE", FROM DOWN THE STREET WHO GOT THEIR GARDEN HOSE TO THREAD ON CORRECTLY, TWO SUMMERS AGO!

THIS MIGHT BE A FUEL PROBLEM---FUEL DELIVERY---CARB. MAYBE AN IGNITION PROBLEM

WITHOUT ACCURATE HISTORY---ALONG WITH THE NORMAL CHECKS, I MIGHT REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP (JUST FOR INSURANCE AND PEACE OF MIND). NOT REAL REAL EXPENSIVE, I MAY CAN SHOW YOU HOW TO GET PARTS AT A PARTS STORE CHEAPER

. BUT 1ST! JUST TO SEE HOW IT DOES, LETS CHECK THE FUEL PRESSURE WITH A GAUGE AND SEE HOW MUCH VOLUME IT WILL "SPIT OUT" INTO A QUART JAR IN 15 SECONDS TIME WHILE IT IS RUNNING (OFF OF WHAT'S LEFT IN THE CARB BOWL)

ALWAYS KEEP A FIRE EXTINGUISHER HANDY---DO THIS WELL AWAY FROM THE HOUSE AND OTHER VEHICLES

IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE OR NEED SOME "HOW TOs", LET ME KNOW

I WILL SOON EXPLAIN HOW TO CHECK/TEST YOUR IGNITION MODULE NOT ONLY PROPERLY, BUT MORE THOROUGHLY WHEN YOU RETURN
