valve noises

Hi,
In my 77 4.1 liter 6 cyl Elcamino, I have valve noises like taps (not to loud). how can solve it? should I open the valves cover and tune the screws until no ticking anymore or there is better way? is it the right way to do it?

Yes, try to adjust them first.

by adjusting the screws over the top of valve? (like in picture)
