When starting the engine takes to boot and speeds to 2,000 RPM, then stays at 1500 rpm, the car is 1976 Mercedes Benz 450 SL, Chasis 107

I WOULD FIRST CHECK FOR VACUM LEAKS.ESPECIALLY THE BRAKE BOOSTER.
IF NO VAC LEAKS CHECK FOR ENG IDLE CONTROL STICKING IF NONE OF THESE THEN MOST LIKELY LEAKY INJECTOR ORINGS.
