1976 Mercedes Benz 450sl Gauge problem

Both the fuel gauge and the temp gauge quit working when I installed the dash cluster. I have removed the cluster many times and never had this issue before.
Is there a sending unit that controls both of these gauges?

No, nothing controls just those 2. You have a bad connection from when you removed it. Make sure all the pins are in good shape, not bent or pushed out of the connector.
