Starts and idles fine with choke on, cuts out when accelerator is pressed or choke is release

not a gear head so I don't really know where to start, told it could be carburettor, I've fully charged battery and started to clean parts but just don't know where to start

yes, it is a carb issue. it most likely is leaking internally. replace or overhaul will be the answer.
