Faulty Door lock?

Dear 2CarPros,

Can you please advise?

We have a Rolls Royce with a faulty lock, as below.

- 1974 Silver Shadow
- Left hand door
- External lock
- Key rotates without opening the lock.

What is the remedy?

Hello,

It sounds like you have an issue with the door lock cylinder.
These Rolls had issues with the lock cylinder braking.
The component that 'pushes' the lever to unlock the door, breaks due to its design.
The result is that you will turn the key but it will not do anything as the connection is broken.
The remedy is to replace the door lock latch.
This will require you to remove the interior door panel. Which is held on by several screws and few fasteners.
