This car sat in a garage without being started just shy of 5 years. I got it started. I changed fuel filter, spark plugs, and battery. When I changed the fuel filter. No gas came out. Is this the fuel pump? Because it won't start now.

AFTER 5 YEARS OF SITTING. MAYBE THE FUEL EVAPORATED OUT OF THE FILTER

IS THERE FUEL IN THE TANK. MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA TO GET RID OF IT

MR. CARB MAY BE GUMMED UP, MAY NEED A REBUILD OR A REPLACEMENT

OTHER THAN SIPHONING OR DROPPING THE TANK, ON SOME VEHICLES, I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MAKE THEM "RUN" OFF OF AN "I.V" ( A SMALL VESSEL HANGING A FEW FEET ABOVE THE CARB WITH FRESH GAS---PIPED IN TO THE FUEL FEED---GRAVITY FED). WHILE THE FUEL PUMP PUMPED THE OLD GAS INTO SEVERAL FUEL CANS VIA LONGER HOSES

YOUR FUEL PUMP MAY BE OK, REMOVE THE OUTLET PIPE AT THE FUEL PUMP AND EXTEND A NEW HOSE OVER INTO A FUEL CAN. TURN IT OVER A FEW TIMES TO SEE IF IT FINALLY PRIMES UP AND SQUIRTS FUEL OUT

JUST FOR GIGGLES, WHAT DOES A 2-3 SECOND BURST OF STARTER FLUID DO DOWN THE CARB. DOES IT ATTEMPT TO FIRE OFF?

I'D RECOMMEND DOING ALL OF THIS "START UP" STUFF OUT OF THE GARAGE, AWAY FROM THE HOUSE, AWAY FROM OTHER CARS, WITH A WET TOWEL AND A FIRE EXTINGUISHER HANDY !

FUEL LINES GET OLD AND LEAK. AND SOMETIMES THEY BACK FIRE THRU THE CARB.I'VE THROWN A WET TOWEL OVER 'EM MANY-A-TIME WHEN THEY BLAZED UP!

SITUATION?

MORE ASSISTANCE?
