I have a 1973 Mg Midget. I have found a tooth missing on first gear and ned to replace this but am having difficulties getting the aluminum screw loose that holds the reverse gear. Any suggestions?

You can use an impact driver, but use care not to damage any other parts, replace the screws I would be thinking that they may have been loc tighted in, if so they will be hard to remove.

Thank you for your answer. I think I will need to use some heat to help. I have used an impact driver but no luck. The screw is aluminum so to much torque will end up stipping it. The question I have is the entry point for the screw seems to be too small for the shft holding the gear to clear. The shaft has to be able to be removed to remove the reverse gear and allow 1st gear to be removed.

Just go easy on the heat, you will not need a lot too start to expand things.
