What causes the automatic transmission in my 1973 Ford F100 to leak fluid?

My transmission is leaking quite a bit of fluid. I have to add a quart about every 100 miles or so. It probably leaks while I am driving it and definitely leaks while parked.

There are gaskets and seals that can go bad and leak. You need to identify which one is leaking and replace / repair it.
