I drive a 1972 mercury montego mx and i wanted to know if i got shocks or struts or something else?

My second question is i want to raise my car a bit higher in the back to give it the muscle car stance, but what do i need to get there?

you got shocks you lucky dog. much better ride than struts. much cheaper too. for the back you could put in load shocks that have their own helper spring to increase weight handling which when no weight is added they raise body slightly. you can also use spring lifts or spring jacks if they still make them?
