Chevy 350 problems

I recently rebuilt a chevy 350 and ive got it all together in the truck and when I go to crank it I spins over very slow and after a few seconds the battery cables smoke but ive replaced the cables and batteries and used multiple starters but it still does the same thing

Did you check all the bearing oil clearances?

Yea I did I got all new parts and plastiguaged every rod connection and they are all within specs. But I fixed the problem it was the battery cables they were old and had been sitting for a while and were corroded
