72 402 ci chevy intermittent right rear upper engine noise

If its a ticking noise that fades away when engine comes up to normal operating temperature-You may have a valve lifter leakdown problem-

Also check for a pushrod gone through the rocker arm. the did that quite a bit. Also a bent pushrod.
