I have a 71 k 5 blazer and for some reason my idle always goes up to 1500 rpms no matter how I adjust the carberator

Check for vacuum leaks.

You likely have some internal issues with the carb and may have to replace it with a remanufactured unit. Make sure the EGR isn't leaking past the base gasket also.

Is throttle cable too tight/sticking? Or kickdown or cruise cables?
