coolant reservoir

i have a 1970 Ponitiac Lemans Sport, i recently purchased it. anyway, i recently bought a coolant reservoir for it. well the end of the hose on the radiator is a 1/4" in diameter or so, and the end on the tank is smaller. doesn't the reservoir tank need to be under pressure with hose sealed on the cap? right now i just put the hose in the tank, but have not drove it yet, circumstances, and for another day is why.

BACK THEN---'90s OR SO

THE COOLANT RESERVOIR WAS JUST A CATCH BOTTLE

EXTRA RADIATOR JUICE WENT IN IT, WHEN THE SYSTEM WAS HOT....WHEN IT WAS COLD IT WOULD GET S.UCKED BACK INTO THE RADIATOR

THERE WERE TWO WAYS TO MAKE THIS WORK

THE TUBE WENT THRU THE TOP AND ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM (SO IT WAS ABLE TO S.UCK THE JUICE BACK UP FROM THE BOTTOM

.....OR THE BOTTLE WAS DESIGNED SO THAT THE TUBE ATTACHED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE RESERVOIR

BACK THEN---THE RADIATOR CAP WAS ON THE RADIATOR (PRESSURIZED PART OF THE SYSTEM) ...NOT ON THE RESERVOIR (A NON-PRESSURIZED STORAGE BOTTLE)

I LOOKED FOR A BETTER FITTING...THEY DO MAKE THEM IN CORRECT SIZES....THIS ONE IN MY LINK....YOU JUST CHOP IT OFF, TILL THE ENDS ARE THE RIGHT SIZE
