Loose shifter

1970 CHEVROLET EL CAMINO

Im having a problem with how the steering column switches into the different gears...It stays in Park just fine but when I take it out of park I can slide the shifter through all the gears,its not sticking in place.
It seemed to be stuck neutral then now reverse.

Engine:350 (ZQ3) small block
Transmission:TH400 automatic
tilt steering column

You need to check what has given way with the shifter mechanism. Could be worn pins.
