1970 AMC Javelin V8 Two Wheel Drive Manual unknow miles

whats up all. My dad's amc has been sitting in the garage unstarted for about 15 or so years. Our goal is just to get it running. I understand that any gas thats still in there is probably in the consistency of honey by now. At this point is it possible to get it started without a professional having to take it apart and hand clean it (the engine)?

Drop tank clean out, blow out fuel lines. New pump and filter. Will need to rebuild carb. Put in new cap, rotor, wires, plugs and points and condensor. With plugs out put about 2-3 oz. Marvil Mystery oil in each cylinder let set overnight. Then hand turn engine. New oil and filter. Good battery and give it a whirll. Let me know as you progress and will help

To the medic. I just took the gas tank off the 1968 javelin and it is full of varnish so bad it has turned into black gum! How do I clean it out?

WANNA KNOW HOW WE DID A 1943 WILLYS MB JEEP TANK?

IT WORKED VERY WELL TOO!

WE REMOVED THE GOODIES OUT OF THE HOLES---DUCT TAPED 'EM SHUT

THEN FILLED IT ABOUT A 1/4 FULL OF SAND (PLAY SAND FROM LOWE'S)

THEN WE TIED THAT PUPPY TO THE DRIVER'S OUTSIDE WHEEL OF MY BUDDY'S FORD 2000 TRACTOR RIM

HE WAS GONNA BUSH-HOG THE FIELD BESIDE HIS HOUSE ANYWAY (ACTUALLY HE WAITED, SO WE COULD DO THIS)

ACRES UNKNOWN, HE WENT SLOWER THAN USUAL, TOOK ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF OR SO.I HAD TO RE-TAPE ONCE!

DUMPED AND RINSED/ FLUSHED WITH WATER

THEN THE SUN DID THE REST

LIKE NEW INSIDE!

The medic. Awesome I was going to try filling it with gas and marbles but this is much more efficient and marbles dont have the wire brush power like sand. We got it running today and put a subaru brat radiator in it, made some gaskets and tommorrow we are going to drive around the property with the IV. Do you anywhere to get the front bumper.

I'LL LOOK FOR A BUMPER. NO PROMISES!

WE USED 4 RATCHET STRAPS TO HOLD IT ON THE TRACTOR WHEEL!

WE ALSO LAID A CLEAR PLASTIC BAG OVER THE TANK TO ACCELERATE THE DRYING PROCESS---LIKE A "WATER STILL" USED TO "MAKE WATER" IN A DESERT ENVIRONMENT

To the medic. Do you think it is worth it to fix it up, the body is in great shape but I shoveled 1 wheelbarrow full of rat poop out of the bad interior. I already have a 1985 dodge power ram 50 but the front CV joints are broken and there is almost no clutch left so I have to keep it in 4x4 low.

I JUMPED ON YOUR QUESTION BECAUSE IT WAS AMC---IF YOU HAD PRESENTED A "GREMLIN" TO ME, I WOULD GIVE YOU THE SAME HELP

THE JAVELIN WAS THE "AMC" MUSCLE CAR---AND YOU RARELY SEE ONE ON THE ROAD...SO IF YOU WANT THE "LOOKS" FROM OTHER "WANNA BE"---"I WISH I.....BUT...." PEOPLE. THAT IS THE RIG FOR YOU!

HEAVY BUMPERS CAN BE INSTALLED--YOU DO DAMAGE, NOT GET DAMAGED

JUMP CURBS--GO 'ABOUT ANYWHERE YOU WANT, CITY OR COUNTRY

THOSE PESKY SWARMS OF FEMALES

CLEAN IT INSIDE AND OUT---WITH A GARDEN HOSE

SMALL---PARK ANYWHERE--TURNS TIGHT

LOTS OF AVAILABLE PARTS AND ACCESSORIES EZily AVAILABLE FOR THE NEXT 200 YEARS

MANY IMPROVING MODIFICATIONS CAN BE DONE

THEN YOU HAVE THE "EASE" OF A JEEP RESTORATION

THAT DARN HEADLINER, DOUBLES AS YOUR TOP

UNLESS YOU HAVE A HARDTOP, DOOR PANELS ARE EXACTLY THAT...A DOOR!

WITH A CJ 7, YOU CAN HAVE RECLINING SEATS

IT'S EZ TO STORE YOUR SPARE TIRE

1963 ON BACK---NO SEAT BELTS.....SO YOU CAN LEGALLY "NOT" WEAR THEM!

THE LIST GOES ON!

THE CLINCHER...I CHALLENGE YOU TO FIND ME A VIDEO WITH LOTS AND LOTS OF JAVELINS WITH A TITLE SIMILAR TO, "HOTTIE IN A JAVELIN"

MY ADVICE IS TO SELL BOTH OF YOUR RIGS AND GET A "REAL VEHICLE" LIKE MY TWO!

REGARDLESS--I'LL STILL HELP WITH YOUR JAVELIN...BUT NO MORE WHINING!

YOU CAN LOOK THRU THESE TO---LOOK AT HOW EZ IT IS TO FIX 'EM

https://www.2carpros.com/makes/jeep/cj7

JUST REMEMBER TO COME BACK TO THIS POST, DON'T CREATE ANOTHER, I MAY NOT FIND YOU!

YOUR THOUGHT'S

SOUNDING LIKE A CRACKED HEAD---BLOWN HEAD GASKET

SOME AUTO PARTS STORES RENT OUT A TESTER LIKE IN THIS LINK

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/CST-Pressure-Tester-Adapters/_/N-263r?counter=0&filterByKeyWord=PRESSURE+TESTER&fromString=search&itemIdentifier=84330_0_0_

BAD THING ABOUT THIS GAUGE IS, IT JUST LETS YOU KNOW IT'S LEAKING DOWN

MIGHT BE JUST AS WELL TO SNATCH HEAD AND HAVE IT CHECKED

SORTA LOOK AT THE GASKET TOO, IT MAY GET DAMAGED REMOVING THE HEAD...MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO TELL IF IT WAS A PROBLEM, UNLESS IT'S REALLY OBVIOUS
