WHAT'S SORTA GOING ON WITH YOUR JEEP?
LET'S HEAR "THE STORY"
BRAKES CAN BE COMPLICATED. ESPECIALLY ON THESE NEW DISPOSABLE VEHICLES
'70s - '80s WERE SORTA EZ
SAD THING IS, WITH OLDER BRAKE STUFF LIKE OURS THE "EXPERTS" HAVE ABOUT DIED OUT OR ARE TOO OLD TO AID US
THE "NEW GUYS" ARE TOO "HIGH TECH" AND THE OLD SIMPLE STUFF (DINOSAUR STUFF) BAFFLES THEM, AS IT'S NUTHIN' LIKE WHAT THEY KNOW ABOUT
I'D LIKE TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON, OR HAS BEEN SO "I" MIGHT LAUNCH A DECENT ATTACK ON YOUR PROBLEMS
. YOUR MASTER CYLINDER IS ON THE FRAME, UNDER THE PEDALS. IT IS A "SINGLE RESERVOIR". IF ONE BRAKE LINE GOES. THERE IS NO FAIL-SAFE BACK-UP!
MINE IS A BIT MORE COMPLICATED THAN YOURSIT TOO, IS DOWN RIGHT NOW WITH BRAKE ISSUES (EZ TO FIX.I HAVE A LOT ON MY PLATE AT THE PRESENT)
IN ORDER TO REMOVE MY FRONT DRUMS, I MUST REMOVE THE FRONT HUBS/ BEARINGS, AS THEY ARE PRESSED TOGETHER AS ONE UNITSAME GOES FOR THE REAR, THE BEARINGS STAY, BUT I HAVE TO REMOVE THE AXLE FLANGES ANS HUBS AS A UNIT ALSO
I BROUGHT "WILLY" (MY 1946) BACK TO LIFE IN 1991NOW THINGS ARE WEARING OUT AGAIN.I JUST REPLACED ALL OF THE RUBBER BRAKE LINES, NOW I'M GONNA REBUILD THE FRONT WHEEL CYLINDERS. ADJUST THE SHOES (MINE DON'T SELF-CENTER LIKE YOURS) I HAVE TO MANUALLY SET THEM. BLEED MY SYSTEM, I'LL BE READY TO GO AGAIN!
(LOOKS LIKE MY CLUTCH THROW-OUT BEARING AND RUBBER BRAKE LINES WOULDA LASTED LONGER THAN 23 YEARS!)
I DO NOT WANNA STEER YOU WRONG----OR HAVE YOU DO SOMETHING UNSAFE. THEREFORE I AIN'T GONNA SHOOT YOU OUT A 2 PARAGRAPH "DO THIS"."DO THAT". IT'S MORE COMPLICATED THAN THAT. THERE'S THINGS THAT NEED INSPECTION AND ATTENTION ALONG THE WAY!
THIS IS YOUR JEEP. NOT YOUR COFFIN!
ARE YOU "REALLY" MECHANICAL?
DO YOU HAVE TOOLS?
I HAVE AIDED MANY CJs HEREWE SWAP PICS BACK AND FORTH, I EVEN TAKE YOUR PICS AND ADDED TEXT AND ARROWS AS TO WHAT TO DO. SOME OF THESE CJs I'VE AIDED HAVE WAY OVER 100 BACK AND FORTH RESPONSES BETWEEN US
I ALSO HAVE A 1977 CJ 5
