Yesterday I installed a new thermostat in my 1964 ford fairlane 500. Today I tried to start it for the first time after installing the new thermo but it wont start. and the temp gauge spikes all the way to H... Im sure I didnt install the thermo upside down. lol. I ran the car for about 20 mins and it seemed to be ok (ie; not over heating) How do I fix this?

check to see if coolant temp switch wire is touching the block someplace. then check to see if you get a blinking light at wire wher eit hooks up to switch.if not then the gauge may be bad.
