1964 Chevrolet Corvette Recently Purchased Console Repair Kit 64 4 Speed

I recently purchased a console repair kit for a '64 Corvette with a 4 speed. Please advise the best/correct method for removing the old plate and ash tray lid and installing the new ones.

sorry i dont' have anything that old to see, if you got it out of a catalog refer to that.it may just have clips and few screws under the plate
