The generator light comes on when I turn the lights on in my 62 Impala.

The generator light comes on when I turn the lights on in my 62 Impala. I have a alternator with a internal voltage regulator, it is putting out 14.6 volts during fast idle.

Have the voltage regulator bypassed if it comes up more than 14.6 replace the alternator-if not replace the voltage regulator
