*(1954 Truck year)Throttle return spring fell off carb on freeway. Stuck at 6,000 rpm's for under a minute. Pulled off freeway dropped into neutral and shutoff engine. Backfire heard. Temp might of been at 240. Took 10 mins to restart to drive the 2 miles home.
Starts ok noise heard. Engine sounds ok but there is a scrapping sound. Only ran to try to pinpoint problem.
This is a pre '86 SB350. Mounted in my '54 Chevy 1 ton Flatbed. Very low mileage on a Crate motor installed 5-6 yrs ago.
I run NPG+ coolant, no water. Oil level is maybe a qt low right now.
Trying to determine what the damage might be to avoid taking the whole motor out with no funds to repair at this moment.

Noise is something that can't be diagnosed online. You need to locate the source of the noise and at least that might give us an idea what it could be.
