All the diagrams I have for a Delco-Rely Series 5L11 external regulator alternator show a "resistance wire in the regulator circuit. What is the resistance value of this item? Is it absolutely necessary? It is in the wire from the #4 terminal on the regulator to the accessory terminal on the ignition switch. The #4 regulator terminal also connects through the indicator light to the ignition terminal on the ignition switch.

it may cut the voltage down to 9 or 6 volts for ignition system so points will not burn up I can't get to the manual bu tit wouldn't tell us that anyhow. it would just show the diagram.
