Hello, from about one week I am owner of 1959 Cadillac convertible 62 series. I saw leak from transmission oil pan. Do 1959 Cadillac have any transmission filter or should I clean everything and change the gasket only ? I will be thankful for help. Thank you very much.

actually our manual does not go back that far for that car and in 1960 It does not even show transmission repair. However, when I started working on cars professionally I took a transmission class which covered that beast in that car. If it is stock and transmission has not be updated it is a Dual Coupling Hydra matick and I do not think there is a filter in it. Least I could not find one in my book. this does not operate like normal transmissions because there is no torque converter in it so it takes off slow to say the least. it is identified by having a c stamped on it probably above pan on case. it is all cast iron and very heavy.
