At the beginning there was no A/C on the driver's side, passenger side is normal. Two days later, the passenger side has no more A/C. Air distribution (head, foot etc.) is good. Heat can be turned on (90f) or off (60f). The passenger side blend door actuator looks good, please see video, correct me if I'm wrong. Are the blend doors/rods broken? Should I read OBD2?

The car listed above is a dual zone, 2L Eco boost.

Thanks for the video, next time please upload the video to our site so others can have better access to it. :) It looks like the actuator in the video is working correctly with no broken control rods. So, when the A/C is on can you feel cold air anywhere, out of any vents? It could be the driver side actuator went out and then the A/C stopped working as two different problems. Here is a guide to help and the blend door actuator locations in the images below. Please go over the guides and the images and get back to me.

Check out the images (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Hi Ken, thanks for responding. I do not feel cold air out of any vents while the a/c pulley is spinning. Please see the driver side video. It seems like the rod does not go all the way? (The clicking sound is from tapping the temp adjustment button.)

Thanks for the It looks like the blend door actuator is working okay, if the actuators where having a problem they usually make a clicking noise. I would start by checking the refrigerant level here is video to help us and I have included a guide you should go over as well.

Hi Ken, I have great news and bad news. After recharging the A/C, the passenger's side air is cool, but the driver's side is still warm, no change at all, just like the very beginning issue. Is there still a dual zone door problem? Thanks.

Hi Charles,

Well, we are getting closer. It does sound like the driver's side actuator is not working correctly. We should change it out. Here are the location and how to do the repair in the images below. You will need to remove the throttle pedal assembly. Check out the images (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

I've already uploaded a video on 9/29, just repost the link below. I'm not sure if I captured all the movement, let me know if I need to take another video. Thanks.

Oh yes, I did see that video. Did you try to move the blend door actuator by hand to see if the full movement is being achieved?

Finally, I removed the actuator! By rotating the white gear that the actuator inserts into, the air on driver side is either hot or natural (non-hot non cool). Is the door itself broken? Or evaporator is clogged on left side? Many thanks.

It sounds like the blend door is broken inside the HVAC plenum or there might be obstruction inside one of the vents, when you move the gear can you hear the door shut inside when going from lock to lock?

I can hear some sound but not sure if it's from the door shut. The gear has significant resistance, is not loose. The gear can only be turned about 90 degrees between heat and non-heat, is that normal? Thanks again.

Thanks for the video. Yep, it does not sound good. The door should move easily, when the actuator is not attached to the plenum does it move when you work the controls. Is so the HVAC plenum needs to be removed and disassembled to find out what happened, it could be something has fallen down into the vent or the plastic gave way and needs to be replaced. Let me know I will forward instructions on how to remove the unit.

Is there any way to remove the black plastic piece that covers the white arm/rod? Probably easier than removing the entire HVAC plenum? Thank you.

Yep, just as you see there you can try to remove the mounting screws. Removing the HVAC plenum is a big job, but I can walk you through it. First disconnect the battery, drain the coolant and discharge the A/C system.

This video will help:

https://youtu.be/4EqdrBVb0sY

Once that is completed, here is how to remove the HVAC unit for disassembly. The dashboard will need to be removed first. Check out the images (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.
