01 BMW 325i is giving me codes p0491 p0492 and p0014

We bought the car recently and discovered it has problems. I have replaced o2 sensors the vacuum pump and breather valve. While i was testing the old vacuum pump I had only thhe p0492 and p0491 codes showing up the vacuum pump randomly quit working and then the p0014 code showed up. What do I need to do to help resovle this so i can get it to pass emissions?

Hello Bcmullen95,

Those codes are for the secondary air injection system which could be may things such as an air diverter valve or air check valve at the exhaust manifold. I found this resource that might help, please let me know who it goes.

So I checked out the Web site and followed what I could and I just had the code p0492 pop up again. I replaced the solenoid valve and vacuum lines. Could the check valve by the exhaust manifold causing this problem? Do you know what the exact drive cycle is.

Yes the check valve could easily cause the problem you are having, the drive cycle will vary as the computer goes through its monitored systems.

Do you know what the drive cycle for the 01 BMW 325i drive cycle is? I find ones online I just want to make sure it is accurate.

The cycle will usually complete within 30 to 50 miles.

Not for this car, we have driven almost 300 miles for it to complete a drive cycle. If I have the correct drive cycle I can just follow the BMW drive cycle to complete it instead of guess work. Do you know the 01 BMW 325i drive cycle?

That cycle is way too long, it must not be completing which can be caused by the engine not running at operating temperature like the thermostat is stuck open, can you check ?
