Hello, I am Danny.

The harmonic balancer will have a straight groove cut into it across the balancer. That we be your mark. I personally use red nail polish to mark the groove for a future visual aid when checking ignition timing. Your engine requires a O degree timing setting. Start by finding cylinder number one piston top dead center and have the balancer mark at 0 degrees on the timing tab (on timing chain cover) when installing distributor the distributor cap rotor once aligned will point to cylinder number one spark plug wire post on the distributor cap. I have attached a picture. Hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions if needed. Thanks for using 2CarPros.com.
