Do the water pumps typically last 200,000 miles?

I'm going to change my antifreeze thermostat and serpentine belt and would like your opinion on if i should replace the water pump while I'm in there or do they last 200,000 miles most of the time? What would you do? I take care of my cars until they just quit all together. Thanks!

Hi,

Normally, that won't last 200,000. However, if there is no problem with it, I would leave it alone. It may last a lot longer. But that is up to you. If it does fail, the only loss will be coolant and the time to remove and replace the belt and a couple of other components to access it.
