In park and neutral the truck won’t rev up past 4,000 RPMs, it idles rough has very little power and acceleration while driving. Random loss of oil pressure while driving but regains oil pressure after revving up to 1,500 RPMs. After driving for a while there is a chirping from the under carriage, idles very rough and idle RPMs bounces from 400 to 1,000 RPMs?

Hi,

I'm not sure, but it sounds like you have more than one problem. By chance, have you checked for diagnostic trouble codes? If you haven't, that is where I would start. If you don't have a scan tool, oftentimes a parts store will lend one to you.

Next, when the oil pressure drops off, do you hear any knocking or ticking from the engine? And the noise you hear, is it loud enough for you to record and upload it for me to hear?

Let me know. Also, make sure the transmission fluid is clean and full as well.

Here is a link you may find helpful:

One last question. Are you driving the vehicle in first gear all the time?

Let me know.

There haven’t been any codes, and no noises that I have heard when the oil pressure drops. I’ll be driving it tomorrow, so I’ll try to get some sounds recorded for you and I’ll check the transmission fluid.

Hi,

If you aren't hearing any noises from the engine and the pressure is dropping to 0, there must be a wiring issue, a connector issue, or the oil pressure switch is failing.

Since you hear a chirping, open the hood and make sure there is nothing getting on to the serpentine belt such as oil.

Let me know.
