I started having problems with my van about 2 week ago with the van shuting down randomly, driving, traffic light and use going through a drive thru and either the van will turn back on by itself or I have to use the key to restart it, but it always never right away just does it whenever it feels up to it. I just replaced the ecm and I thought took care of issue but that wasnt it continued to shut down randomly. I first tried starting my van leaving the engine running and I started to check for loose wires by wiggling the wires to see if engine would shut down or sputter, but nothing, I tried this under the hood fuse panel and under the dash board and van ran fine, so I went back to check the fuse panel and I noticed the (Red) positive terminal wire was starting to smoke, I shut the van off immediately and disconnected the battery before any damage could happen. I took my test light to see if there was a short and found that my IOD and my hazard light fuse was the issue, I tried to trace the wires to find if they where loose or shown wear to short against any metal. After looking I attached the (Red) positive cable back on the battery leaving the (Black) negative wire disconnected and I started under the fuse box checking the wires for the short and nothing there, so I continued to check everything under the hood and nothing, so I continued on to inside the van under dashboard and still nothing. Am I missing something, any suggestions to help would be greatly appreciated, this is my only vehicle and with it shutting down with my daughter and grandson worries me, especially while turning into traffic.
