Fuse keeps blowing. Only getting power to one terminal on the wiper motor electrical connector, no matter what position the wiper switch is in. Replaced wiper switch already and same thing happens. I unplug the wiper switch from motor and it stops blowing fuses, and only sprayer operates. The motor was bench tested out of vehicle and I had high and low speed working. The relay in engine compartment seems good and clicks. I inspected the wiper motor and a lot of dust in the magnets inside cover, and wear marks on the armature top. Smelled a bit burned. Linkages from motor to wipers are free and moving when pushed manually. I unplugged the wiring connector from the wiper motor, and stops blowing the fuse. Perhaps the motor is faulty even though bench tested okay, as maybe the motor is pulling high amps more than fuse can handle? I am desperately trying to find an electrical schematic for this wiper system, from relay to switch and motor.

Hi Danny, thanks for responding, unfortunately the image is not coming through clear, and is blurry when blown up. The electrical information you sent is material I have dealt with before and does not provide help on the wiper motor trouble shooting. I am already thinking motor is the problem.

Hello,

There is a wiper relay that needs to be checked. Here is a wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works and the relay location with a guide to help you test it:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-an-electrical-relay-and-wiring-control-circuit

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken

Thanks ken for your diagrams and wiring info, some good info that Helped narrow it down a bit more. I have checked all relays and working good, and followed the wiring diagrams and only thing is a bad wiper motor pulling to many amps. I unplugged the wiring connector from motor and went directly to the battery positive and ground. I put a fuse inline with a 20 amp in the circuit and It blew as soon as I hook up to wiper motor. This confirms the motor issue and no electrical as I unplugged connector from motor and stops blowing fuse. Unfortunately I never had my proper meter with me and couldnt see how many amps motor is pulling when direct wired. Just giving you an update on progress and getting a second hand motor from autowreckers for $25. Will share results when it is installed.

Before replacing wiper motor it appeared to me you suggested a relay and in your diagrams you sent me I seen the tacm relay and I found it. It apparently controls rear defogger and intermittent on wipers and I overheard my mom saying rear defroster not working. It very well may be the tacm relay? And motor gone together? Very strange as the tacm relay is connected to the washer sprayer and washer sprayer works when pulling switch. If you remember ken hoing back a few months ago this is the car that you helped me with when it was jumpstarted wrong and fried the drivers in pcm. Any suggestions ken, I will still test for amp draw on wiper motor to rule it out 100 percent. This is the tacm relay I found under dash.

The rear window defogger is not connected to the wipers. The fact the wiper motor blew the fuse is telling us the motor is bad. I would start there, the tacm relay could be bad can you remove it to see if it smells burnt?

Hi Ken, the metal tacm relay I sent on last message to you only has two wires on it, and it is a door chime buzzer. The drawing schematic of wipers you sent shows four wires for relay. It says left of steering column under dash and nothing is close to it except the metal buzzer. The part number on the metal buzzer identifies it as a wiper relay. This is very confusing. Also the wiper relay fuse is a 10 amp and it is not blown. When I remove 10 amp fuse there is no power reading on my meter when I probe it. See pictures below.

Sorry Ken, all over the place with this. I was thinking that the tacm must be good as the washer pump is connected to this relay as in the drawing diagram so if that works, means good relay and I never got a reading on my meter when I took the relay fuse out because I never tried to operate washer pump switch to get a reading.

The door chime is just that it does nothing else. Can you unplug the wiper motor to see if the fuse still blows when the system is turned on?

I can operate the washer pump without wiper motor plug connector in and still operate the switch/ pull switch lever and pump sprays water, as it should shown on diagram you sent.

Sounds like the motor is bad. I would replace it. Here are diagrams to help you change the wiper motor out. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

Thanks Ken, I figured so. When the wiper motor wiring connector is in, the 20 amp fuse in kick panel will blow without switch activated. Would this still mean motor?

Good news Ken, I went to auto-wreckers and got a wiper motor. Put it in, and wipers work now, but I had to pop off the snap on socket with a spline to go over the one from wreckers. Doing so I ended up having the wipers not in sink, and it is not parking properly on bottom. It stops half way up the windshield. I took off the wipers with a socket and moved the wipers to the bottom of window but same thing happens. All settings work, such as intermittent. Slow, fast, but stops half way on windshield. Is this adjustable or is it a problem with the park mechanism? And also rear defogger working, was a burned fuse in engine compartment. Any suggestions Ken on this parking of wipers would be appreciated, thank you for your continued support, glad you guys are here to help.

It sounds like the wiper motor arm is in the wrong place which makes the wipers park in weird places. Recheck the arms/linkage.
