There are two ways to figure that out. One is to look up a part on a web site like for Rock Auto. If the same part number is listed for both years, you will know the parts interchange. The problem is if the numbers are different, you do not know why. One could simply have a new bracket welded on in case it is needed on a certain application, but that is enough to warrant a new part number.
You can also visit any salvage yard and look up a part in their "Hollander Guide". That is a very large, expensive book that lists every part on a vehicle with a code number. You look that number up in the back of the book, and it will list every application that could have used that part.
