Why would the push button light for four wheel drive not work.

My truck 4 wheel dive buttons are not working it is a push button. The day before the light where on it sat over night and did not work the next morning.

have it scanned for codes first the encoder motor on tcase is high failure rate but that may not be it could be a module or wiring issue as well.
