The truck had great fuel pressure but wasn’t getting fuel, so I thought it had bad injectors so I changed the spider in it. The truck starts then shuts off. Instantly I hooked the truck up to my computer I’m getting the code p1626. Any idea on what’s going on?

Hi,

By any chance, was something done to the ignition switch? Also, if you have a spare key, have you tried it? The code is specific to the theft deterrent system.

Turn the key to the run position. Allow it to stay there until the theft light turns off. It should take approximately 10 minutes. Once it turns off, see if the vehicle will start.

Also, I attached the description of the code below. It includes diagnostics.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe

Hey @ JACOBANDNICKOLAS I let the truck switch stay on for more than 10 minutes and the lights still hasn’t went off I bought the truck from someone and they were trying to bypass the security system on it I bought another ignition switch harness because they cut some of the wires on it that’s the only thing I know about ignition being messed with.

Hi,

Are you able to rewire the circuit? If they cut wires, it is going to be hard to tell the cause. If you can get things together again correctly, that may resolve the issue.

I never understood why people do things like that. Try to save money and then it ends up costing more to fix.

Let me know.

Joe
