Engine rebuilt at 100,000. Last two years new brakes, new CV joints, new clutch, new tires, and a new windshield. Some rust but not through any where yet. Now the rear wheel bearings need to be replaced. I cannot afford to buy a new vehicle. I have a limited amount of money. What should I be aware of if I decide to proceed with the expensive repair. I love this truck. Yeesh.

If you love the truck and it is paid for. You have a new engine, transmission itself should go for another 80,000K miles or more. You are going through the rear axle. About the only driveline parts left are the fuel pump, transfer case and the front axle. If the frame/body and such are holding up okay I would probably clean up the rust, spray all the metal underneath with wax-oyl or fluid film, and run it. I own an 2002 Blazer which is basically the same vehicle with an SUV body and It has over 200,000 miles on it. Other than a fuel pump, injection spider, transmission and front wheel bearings it is original GM. I plan on going over it this summer and running it at least another 100,000 miles. I really wish GM had not dropped them from the US line-up. The replacements just do not match up.

Thank you for the response. I will keep it. It gets bad mileage in town. But it takes snow and ice like a duck to water. And the highway mileage is great. And I love it. Now this is actually the second time I have gotten help from you two. How do I donate to your site? Thanks again bbak77.

Thank you for the update. Bought you lunch and dinner. Did not see options for more or I would give it willingly. I'm sure you will hear from me again. Thanks for all the help. B
