Hi,

The most common cause of the stability control to turn on is a bad wheel speed sensor or even low brake fluid. What I suggest is this. First, make sure the brake fluid is full. If it is, then we have two choices. You can check each of the wheel speed sensors or you could scan what is called the CAN bus system.

CAN stands for computer area network. This vehicle's computers / modules are all tied together with very little wiring. If you scan the system, it will identify where the problem is coming from.

Here is a video showing how it's done:

If you get a diagnostic trouble code from the scan, let me know what it is. If you want to check the sensors, here is a link that explains how it's done:

I attached two pics below. The first one shows the front sensor location and the second is the rear.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe

Hi:

I believe you meant C1380. If that isn't correct, let me know.

Here is how things work. The stability control ECU inputs the stop light switch signal to detect the brake operation. The skid control ECU monitors the stop light. The code is set when the ECU recognizes the stop light is not working properly.

Here is a list of possible causes:

Faulty Stop light Stop light harness
Stop light circuit poor electrical connection
Faulty Stop light Control Relay
Faulty Skid Control ECU or actuator

I need you to check the stop light control relay. I attached a pic of it below. It is located under the hood.

If there is another relay with the same part number, switch them to see if that chances things. If not, here is a link that explains how to test a relay:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-an-electrical-relay-and-wiring-control-circuit

Let me know what you find.
Joe
